I first saw this over at Justin Taylor‘s blog with The Gospel Coalition. It is a brief overview of the Bible. Very cool.

The Many Responsibilities of Mommy
So far this today I have served my kids as a cook, maid, storyteller, janitor, stylist, doctor, wet nurse and disciplinarian. Some of those things I love and some…not so much.
I love being able to watch my kids make new discoveries, problem solve, play together, roll on the ground with laughter and be creative. I love that when they are hurt or sad they come running for me to comfort them. I love when my baby falls asleep in my arms. I love that my older two pretend to be asleep in the car so I have to carry them inside, and I love teaching them about Jesus!
Although I love my “job,” some days are just really tough. Ever since #3 was born I have found it incredibly difficult to find the energy to keep up with the kids. Even after a cup (or two) of coffee I still struggle to wake up, which means my patience is not always the best.
A while ago I put this on my fridge:
“A man of quick temper acts foolishly…whoever is slow to anger has great understanding.” Proverbs 14:17a, 29a
Coined by a family friend, instead of simply reacting I need to reflect and respond. That is not always an easy thing to do – and I have found myself biting my tongue when I get frustrated with my kids on more than one occasion. When I have a slower response, it seems to dissolve the issues much more quickly and the kids have a much better response.
I will never perfect this mommy thing, but I am constantly working on being better than yesterday.
Blessings,
